11 Security

Your phone is equipped with a versatile security system to help you:

Avoid making accidental calls

Prevent unauthorized use of your phone

Restrict outgoing or incoming calls

Avoid erasing your contact list

• SECURITY CODE

Some phone features require you to enter the security code. The security code must
be from 5–10 digits long. The default (preset) security code is 12345. Nokia highly
recommends that you immediately change this code. Write down and store the
new code in a safe place, away from your phone. If you have changed your security
code and do not remember the new code, contact your service provider.
When you enter the security code, it is displayed on the screen as asterisks (*).

If you enter the wrong security code five times in a row, your phone will not accept
any entries for the next five minutes. However, if you realize that you have entered
the code incorrectly before selecting OK, you can select Clear to delete the code.

Use this procedure to change your security code.
1

From the menus, select Settings > Security settings > Access codes >
Change security code
.

2

At the prompt, enter your current security code (default 12345) and select OK.

3

At the message Enter new security code, enter your new security code and
select OK.

4

At the message Verify new security code, enter your new security code again
and select OK.

The message Security code changed appears.

• LOCK THE KEYPAD (KEYGUARD)

The keypad lock (keyguard) disables your keypad to prevent accidental key presses (for
example, when your phone is in a purse).

When the keyguard is on, calls still may be possible to the official emergency number
programmed into your phone. Enter the emergency number and press the Talk key.
